Saeulensilage (plastic colonnade)

Museum Abteiberg, Moenchengladbach 1999
250 m stretch foil

For temporary exhibitions architect Hans Hollein designed moveable walls which would connect two columns but ever since they had never been used. Plastic foil was stretched around two columns. From different points, the new walls appeared as massive walls or Japanese paper walls or huge brush strokes. The remaining sculptures were now separated and the museum needed to employ new security staff.
